The new company recently announced its move into Sweden and now it has unveiled German expansion plans, with other sites no doubt being planned elsewhere.

Germany’s NDC Data Centers GmbH has launched the building of another data centre in the Frankfurt region, quickly following the recent announcement that it was building one of Sweden’s largest data centres in partnership with Swedish energy company Skellefteå Kraft.

Before these two
projects, the new German firm was already building a large facility
near Munich airport. NDC is based in Munich and describes itself as a
“technology and business model innovator”, marrying
“award-winning cooling technology with future-proof architecture”.

On its new development
in Frankfurt, promoted as Frankfurt East or Wolfgang, the company
said: “To reduce the time from design to operations, we always keep
a portfolio of sites ready for development. In addition to the sites
already available in Munich and Northern Sweden, we announce a new
site in Hanau, east of Frankfurt.”

The main promoted
characteristics of the project are “resilience and low-cost data
centre space” with “high energy efficiency” and a “flexible
and modular design with a fast-track delivery model”.

The Wolfgang Data
Center Park is based around 20km from the main DE-CIX internet
exchange in Frankfurt, offering latency of 0.2ms, said the firm.

The site is already
equipped with a 10MW redundant MV connection, that can be upgraded to
40 MW “within 12 months”, said the company. The total extendable
capacity has been determined at 100MW-plus.

Spyridon Linardakis,
CEO of NDC Data Centers, said: “At a time where data centres are
taking up more and more space, energy and resources, our
ultra-energy-efficient approach provides a significant contribution
to the market and the environment.”
