CyrusOne to build extra data centres in London and Frankfurt

The company boosted its European presence with the acquisition of Zenium, and the new builds will be added to other rapid expansion across the group’s global footprint.

CyrusOne (Nasdaq: CONE) has announced the building of new data centres in both London and Frankfurt. Construction is set to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter of 2019 for the London III facility, while the Frankfurt III facility is scheduled to be completed in early 2020.

These sites are in addition to the data centres acquired through the Zenium acquisition, which closed in August 2018.

Located on the Slough Trading Estate just outside London, CyrusOne’s London III data centre will offer approximately 39,500 square feet of data centre space, with a critical IT load of 9MW. Each data hall will be customised to meet client specifications.

Upon completion, CyrusOne’s Frankfurt III facility will include two connected four-storey data centres offering a total of 124,000 square feet of space. The facility will provide a critical IT load of 22 MW with multiple fibre providers providing carrier neutral connectivity.

Gary Wojtaszek, president and chief executive officer of CyrusOne, said: “Expanding our footprint in these markets will help our customers realise their own global growth ambitions.”

CyrusOne operates more than 45 DC facilities across the US, Europe and Asia, and recently became an investor and player in the Brazilian market. The company also recently won planning permission to build its first data centre in Ireland.
